One thing is clear about the Appalachian combo known as The New Familiars: they mean it. The band claims to be "folk music from the core," but an experienced listener can quickly recognize the permeating influences of blues and powerful rock and roll. Very seldom does a cross-genre synthesis experiment result in such authenticity. The band has impressed audiences of all backgrounds in tiny clubs and monstrous outdoor festivals alike.
