New Alternatives and Solutions for Managing Driver-Specific Risks Inherent in Fleet and Transport Intensive Operations
On average, commercial drivers in Australia cover over twice the distance of private vehicle drivers and have about 50 percent more incidents per year. Personal harm and costs associated with repair, insurance excess, replacement vehicles, claims administration and the loss to the business of an employee’s skills and experience all weaken the organisations productivity and performance.
In an effort to reduce road accidents, authorities have intensified their focus on regulating transport safety through regulatory reform and the implementation of a range of safety initiatives and interventions. Companies have acted accordingly, by adopting an increasingly proactive stance towards integrating workplace transport safety into their overall safety culture. A key component of a progressive strategy is to look beyond compliance and fully understand all contributing factors in a more holistic way. Driver competency, vehicle safety, environmental risk factors and the interaction with other road users are key areas that need to be managed within a system of interconnected variables.
The National Workplace Transport Risk and Driver Safety Conference showcases best practices and effective corporate experience with identifying, assessing and mitigating driver-specific risks that characterise transport, logistics and field services intensive industries. Delegates receive an up to date learning and networking opportunity while exploring novel approaches and solutions for an effective management of fleet and driver safety.
