With the rising focus on environmental sustainability as a primary objective comes an increased expectation upon those assigned to designing, implementing and managing environmental and natural resource programs within organisations. For positive change to be achieved, environmental sustainability needs to be strategically integrated into the long-term objectives and direction of the organisation. Furthermore, environmental sustainability cannot occur in isolation. Partnerships and industry / community collaboration are the key to ensuring positive long-term outcomes. This conference explores how a variety of organisations are approaching this, with a particular emphasis on the value of partnerships and building relationships with stakeholders to achieve an environmentally sustainable future for all New Zealanders’.
This conference seeks to provide practical tools and ideas to improve the effectiveness of partnerships formed by industry, government and the community to address environmental and natural resource management challenges of national significance. This begins with the premise that long-term environmental sustainability will only be achieved through the collective action of multiple partners, and that this process needs to be well managed for the long term.
