Vancouver Children’s Choir is pleased to welcome the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain and director Lissa Gray to the beautifully renovated Christ Church Cathedral for a concert on Tuesday, April 15 at 7:30 pm. Vancouver is the final stop on their North American tour before they return to England for an appearance at Birmingham Symphony Hall’s Youth Prom.

The National Children’s Choir of Great Britain was formed in 1998 by their Director, Lissa Gray. In 2000 the Choir sang at the Royal Albert Hall in a Millennium Youth Prom, which was broadcast live by BBC Radio 3, and on Artsworld. It was following their performance of his Peace Mass at this Prom that Bob Chilcott agreed to become President of the National Children’s Choir.
In 2003 they were featured on the ‘Today’ programme for BBC television, and they recorded ‘Snow White’ for the composer Jonathan Willcocks.

Tour repertoire includes sacred works by Pergolesi, Constantini, Orban, and Chilcott as well as secular works by Hopkins, Larson, Purcell, Rutter and more.

Lissa Gray has worked within the music industry for many years, singing, booking session musicians and conducting. She founded and directs the Hampshire Country Children’s Choir and Boys’ Choir, both of which have gone on to great success.

The inspiration she received from working with these children helped towards the founding of the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain in 1998.

Admission at the door: $10 adults | $5 children under 12
