The Munch Suite at National Gallery of Art January 6, 2013

2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of legendary Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. As part of the yearlong celebration of the sesquicentennial, the National Gallery of Art, in collaboration with The Royal Norwegian Embassy, will present the premiere of 'Kjell Habbestad: The Munch Suite.' The performance combines sight and sound: seven musical movements inspired by eight paintings and text by Munch, from his series, 'The Frieze of Life.' The Suite will be performed live with flute solo, string quintet and harp, along with projections of Munch's paintings and text.
