For Phoenix Objectivists first September meeting our guest lecturer, Terry Dìamond, will give a review of Michael Shermer's book "The Mind of the Market".
Shermer's book outlines how markets act and evolve much the way nature acts and evolves. Capitalism is a natural system which evolves through natural selection.
[Charles] Darwinian evolution and [Adam] Smithian markets both show how order and can evolve naturally from competition and innovation. To oppose capitalism, Shermer argues, makes about as much sense as being against photosynthesis. Michael Shermer also praises Austrian economists such as Ludwig von Mises too.
Terry Dìamond is an investment advisor, well versed in Austrian economics and will give a review of Shermer's book.

After he finishes Terry will take questions from the audience and we can discuss the points brought up in his speech.
