Catholics@Work is proud to announce that Rev. Jayson Landeza, former pastor of Oakland's St. Colomba Catholic Church, will be the featured as its speaker October 12, 2010. Fr. Landeza will provide an unfiltered view of a world many acknowledge, but do not comprehend. His talk will blend the sharing of his personal stories with audience participation through questions.

Landeza serves a chaplain for the Oakland Police Department, the Oakland Fire Department, the Berkeley Fire Department, BART PD and the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. Fr. Landeza works with the Crisis Response and Support Network of Catholic Charities of the East Bay, a homicide response team in Oakland; a support group called Family and Friends of Murder Victims (Oakland chapter), and he is a member of NIA (Network for Interfaith Action), Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums' committee of religious / interfaith advisors.

Attila Bardos, president of Catholics@Work, said "This talk will be a little different than the talks we have had over the years because it is about real life that actually surrounds us." Mr. Bardos continued, "Reality shows are popular because they engage us on a level that is supposed to be real and not scripted. Let's embrace this opportunity to understand a local reality and as the author Victor Daniels said, '...learn to tailor our concepts to fit reality, instead of trying to stuff reality into our concepts.'"
