The Lever and Rail is comprised of LA based songstress Lael Neale and veteran road dog Trevor Garrod, best known as the principal singer/songwriter for Tea Leaf Green. These two habitually homeless singers have been crossing paths and untying tunes for years. With his experience matching her prodigal vitality, they float somewhere between folk and rocks and feathers. The haunting combination of their voices conjures forlorn yearnings of a past that never was and a future found at the song's end.

Trevor Garrod's career is somewhat of a mosaic, an artistic image of harmonious discord pieced together by fragmented bits of colorful textures. While spending more than a decade as the principal singer/songwriter and keyboardist for Tea Leaf Green, Garrod has been quietly establishing an impressive solo career. The effervescent, jagged jams rooted from a lifetime with Tea Leaf Green somehow fit beautifully among the smooth-edged, blue funk piano songs of his solo work. With each bit of distinctive difference haphazardly plotted, the sum of the parts illustrates all aspects of human life, through the eyes of one San Franciscan musician.

The Last Monarchs have seemingly arrived at the perfect time. Today’s indie rock universe widely accepts and encourages the organic sound the Monarchs execute with ease. Combine that notion with Rouch’s breezy vocals, Sara and Andrew’s accompanying strings, and the band’s serendipitous open market location– The Last Monarchs could soon become DC’s first big folk rock outfit.
