Two of Manhattan’s leading provocateurs of cocktail culture are joining forces to produce a monthly night of live cabaret-style music: Flûte Gramercy and the Dorothy Parker Society. The Last Thursday Series in the Borsalino Room kicks off Thursday, March 25, with performances by Broadway stars Sarah Rice and Summer Broyhill, along with other special guests.

The venue is underneath Flûte (flutebar.com), the popular Champagne lounge in Gramercy Park (40 E. 20th Street) in its underground private cabaret room. The Dorothy Parker Society (dorothyparker.com), New York’s #1 literary association, is the evening’s sponsor. The musical director and accompanist is the incomparable William Zeffiro, the man behind the hit show “The Road to Ruin” at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Appearing at the debut of the Last Thursday Series on March 25, performing the Great American Songbook:

*Sarah Rice, the original Johanna in “Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” on Broadway for which she won a Theatre World Award and recorded on RCA.
*Summer Broyhill, who made her Broadway debut in “Hairspray” at the Neil Simon Theatre.
*Henry Kaiser, one of the popular stars from “1930s Idol” at Big Night Out.
*Emily Linstrom, star of the burlesque stage as Miss Em.

“Our Borsalino Room at Flûte Gramercy is the perfect place to indulge yourself with good music, cocktails and company, said Hervé Rousseau, Flûte’s founder. “I am confident it is quickly going to become a very cool spot.”

“The Dorothy Parker Society is more than pleased to be a part of such an exciting monthly event,” said Kevin Fitzpatrick, who founded the organization 12 years ago and is its president. “I like that people think we’re a drinking club with a book problem, and certainly Mrs. Parker would approve of a party that celebrates cocktails, the Great American Songbook and witty repartee.”

The Last Thursday Series in the Borsalino Room will continue at Flûte Gramercy the last Thursday night of the month, beginning at 8 p.m. At Flûte Midtown, a monthly speakeasy party, hosted by Wit’s End, is held the last Saturday night of the month, from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Table reservations for the Last Thursday Series are encouraged (212-529-7870). There is no cover with a 2-drink minimum. Must be over 21 to attend.
