The son of the legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood, bassist Kyle Eastwood inherited his father's well-known love of jazz music, becoming a respected session player during the early '90s. Now fronting his own Kyle Eastwood Band, he brings his pop- and soul-influenced music to LVPAC's Bankhead Theater for one performance only on Tuesday, November 11th at 8pm. Eastwood's music bridges many styles and moods, yet remains refreshingly alive and new. Acclaimed in France as one of the world's most talented jazz performers, Eastwood and his trio play traditional jazz standards along with a mix of his own swing, groove and funk influenced compositions.

Eastwood began tinkering with the electric bass guitar in high school, learning R&B, Motown, and reggae tunes by ear. At the age of 18, he began jamming with friends for fun, ultimately deciding that music was what he wanted to do. After studying with French bassist Bunny Brunel, he began playing gigs around the New York and Los Angeles areas, eventually forming the Kyle Eastwood Quartet, who contributed to 1996's Eastwood After Hours: Live at Carnegie Hall, a concert saluting his father Clint and his love of jazz. In 2004, Eastwood moved to the Rendezvous label, which has released his last two albums: 2005's Paris Blue, and 2006's Now.

In addition to his solo albums, Eastwood has also contributed music to five of his father's films: The Rookie, Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Flags of Our Fathers, and Letters from Iwo Jima, earning him both critical acclaim and the opportunity to reach new audiences.

"Being the son of someone that famous has its advantages and drawbacks", he says. "I guess I try not to think about it really. First and foremost I think of him as my father, not the movie star stuff. He's just my dad. I just do what I do and hope people judge my music on its own merits."

Kyle Eastwood brings his pop- and soul-influenced music to the Bankhead Theater in Livermore for one performance only.
