The John Link Septet Plays the Music of John Link October 27, 2012

The John Link Septet, a new ensemble consisting of trumpet, trombone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, guitar, bass, and drums, will play a concert of exclusively the music of John Link. Having used voices as horns for the past 15 years, John Link decided it was time to use horns as voices!

The John Link Septet will play music that has been composed over the past 22 years. During that time John Link led three ensembles that performed his compositions. The John Link Sextet, consisting of guitar, trumpet, tenor saxophone, piano, bass, and drums, performed in Washington, D.C., from 1992 through 1995. The John Link Vocal Quintet, consisting of five vocalists accompanied by guitar, performed in New York City starting in 1997. With the addition of bass and drums in 2007 that ensemble became the John Link Project, performing in New York until 2008.
