Information on our guest speakers:

Trip Bellard was born in Texas, graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, served as a Captain in the Army and received the Bronze Star for service in Iraq.

When he went on R & R, his battalion Commander, LTC Kyle McClelland gave Trip the same advice he gave every soldier: “Tell your story. Make it known what we’re doing. Show the people what you’ve done and the difference you’ve made.”

Trip took that advice to heart, and has taken on a new mission: to give his fellow service members a way to express their views to the American public on Troop Talk: Voice of the Troops.

Jason Flores-Williams, novelist-activist, is at the forefront of the anti-war movement in New York City. He has appeared on CNN, NPR, Air America and in the NY Times.

His controversial third novel, The Last Stand of Mr. America, is published in five countries. His "Call To Resistance" was published in High Times magazine and was at the center of the 2004 Republican National Convention protests in NYC.

DEBATE THIS TOPIC!

This topic is already being debated online. Here are some quotes from the discussion:

Pull our boys and girls out; let them come home and protect our borders here... I doubt the enemy will get in when we're flying our own in the air and have surrounded America on the ground with the best military in the world! (From member: nsjcp)

As to "getting out now" - There are several recent examples on what might happen if we do leave Iraq.

We left Iraq right after the First Gulf War...Saddam killed hundreds of thousands of his own people.

In the first Afghanistan War, the one that the Soviets lost and the USA, through CIA funding won, we got out...the Taliban took over and al-Qaeda grew. (From member: lhunter)
