NewTeatro Theatre Company is proud to present The House of Bernarda Alba, performed in English, by renowned Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca. Opening September 22nd at the Papermill Theatre, The House of Bernarda Alba features an all male cast and direction by Venezuelan director Francisco Orta.
Bernarda, a 60 year old woman who wields total control over her five daughters, has just buried her second husband. In line with family tradition, she has imposed a severe eight year mourning period on her daughters. The women highly object to the order but have no choice but to obey their mother’s wishes. What follows will leave audiences profoundly moved. The House of Bernarda Alba is humorous, deeply touching and at its core, a heart breaking tragedy.
