This talk will appeal to both a science and non-science audience, because it focuses on history as well as science. This special presentation about the historical development of the use of the geomagnetic field in geological times provides strong support for the Wegenerian theory of continental drift. This talk comes at a particularly appropriate time as approach the 100 year anniversary of the publication of Wegeners convictions about the mobility of the continents.
