The Heart of Mantra

When we step into the sacred flow of chanting, the mantras come
alive inside us and work their special magic of the heart. Whether
the mantra is spoken, sung or repeated silently in meditation,
chanting fans the flames of natural devotion that already live
inside us and want to arise. Stepping into the flow of practice is a
powerful way to open the heart and bring love and awareness into
the far reaches of our being.

This workshop makes time for us to listen to the language of
our hearts and souls. Through kirtan, japa (spoken mantra),
meditation, yoga, and group process we will meet in sacred
practice to support each other in deep listening and devotion,
moving deeper into ourselves and into connection. Participants
will also have time for introspection through journaling, making
art, or being in silence during the course of this workshop.

Heather and Benjy Wertheimer have traveled internationally
leading kirtan as Shantala since 2002. They have cultivated a
deep love and respect for sacred practice rooted in mantra. In
this workshop Heather draws from several areas of her life work,
including over a decade of leading kirtan, nearly 20 years as a
therapist and 10 years of teaching yoga. Benjy brings humor,
light-heartedness, and virtuosity of musical expression in both
the Indian and Western traditions. Heather and Benjy offer their
insights as a couple in love honoring the Beloved together through
the practice of kirtan.
