1117 West 24th Street
Los Angeles, California 90007

A comedy of greed, lust and other American values set in a sun-drenched and hedonistic Southern California, "The Golden State" is a 21st Century adaptation of Molière's comic gem The Miser.

Making its first visit to Los Angeles in nearly 20 years, this is a rare chance to see The Dell'Arte Company, an internationally-renowned physical theater troupe based in Blue Lake, California. Dell'Arte takes Molière's comedy of profit-driven family relations and turns it on its head, re-inventing the miser as an elderly California widow with a fortune stuffed in her bra, whose adult children are the desperate products of her fanatical hoarding. It's Molière with the heat turned up, the stops pulled out and the women on top.
