It’s time to hit the field for another season of Giants baseball, and there’s no better way to get fired up than by joining your 2009 San Francisco Giants, broadcasters, executives, and alumni at the Giants Community Fund’s 2009 Play Ball Lunch! Presented by Blue Shield of California, the annual Play Ball Lunch is one of the Giants Community Fund’s primary fundraising events and highlights their flagship program, Junior Giants baseball. Junior Giants, which is a free summer league for underserved youth ages 5 to 18 throughout California, Nevada, and Oregon, utilizes the fundamentals of baseball to stress building self-esteem, education, and leadership to participating players and their families. A select number of Junior Giants players will have the opportunity to sit with a Giants player or coach during the Lunch, and a silent auction will be held during the pre-event reception, giving all guests the opportunity to bid on team memorabilia and valuable souvenirs in support of a great cause.
