The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History will open an exhibit featuring items and photographs that Canadian Dr. Barbeau collected in a presentation entitled, "The Gathering of Traditions -A Centennial Celebration of Dr. Charles Marius Barbeau in Oklahoma." Dr. Barbeau, a young anthropologist from the National Museum of Canada, came to Oklahoma from 1911 to 1912 to do research about the Wyandotte people and work with the Seneca-Cayuga citizens. Through Dr. Barbeau's recordings made on wax cylinders and field notes, the Wyandotte Nation is reclaiming its language.

This partnership between an Oklahoma tribe and museum outside of the United States is a first for the Sam Noble Museum and will serve to enhance future partnerships with other American Indian nations.

The exhibit runs from September 6th, 2012 to November 25th, 2012.
