The Danish Boys Choir (det danske drengekor) was founded in 1943. The choir consists of boys aged between 9 and 15.

Themain purpose of the choir is through performance to create an interestin and appreciation of classical as well as popular music.

TheDanish Boys Choir has always wanted to present a programme as broad aspossible. Danish songs, Jazz, Church music, classical works, musicals, and popular medleys are natural parts of the choir's repertoire.

The Danish Boys Choir has its own house in Copenhagenwhere about 80 boys meet twice a week for singing lessons and choirpractice. The ground work is laid in the Junior Choir, from where, after a trial period, boys are promoted to the Concert Choir. Now theycan look forward to a busy life with many exciting and exacting tasks. The choir also offers leisure activities of which the yearly summercamp is the peak.

Concertsare given in churches, concert halls, at gatherings in variousassociations, in old people’s homes, at functions in hotels, restaurants and larger business companies, at fairs, congresses andconferences – in public or private surroundings.

The Danish Boys Choir is probably the most widely traveled choir in Denmark.Almost every Danish town has been visited and in the course ofinnumerable concert tours the choir has performed in USA, Canada,Japan, Israel, Russia, Greenland, New Zealand, China, East Africa,Argentina and of course in almost all European countries. The tours arenaturally a great incentive for the boys and it is very important forthem to become acquainted with the culture and customs of the countriesin question.
