About the Event
21st century innovation includes three tandem themes: Convergence, Collaboration and Communication. During the past few hundred years, many breakthroughs were made by individuals working alone. More recently large private and government laboratories had been sites for a great deal of creativity, although economic conditions have decimated this research landscape.

New paths to innovation increasingly require collaboration between disparate parties from academia, industry and government. The resulting plethora of unintegrated technologies and approaches can result in chaos, because researchers have not necessarily developed skill at working across silo boundaries. External forces of convergence can be applied to increase the chance of successful outcomes. This talk describes convergence approaches through governance and communication.
