The Fortune Society, one of the nation’s most respected nonprofit organizations offering services to formerly incarcerated men and women, will host its 2010 Annual Awards and Benefit Gala on November 15th 2010 at 6:00pm at The Laura Pels Theatre on West 46th Street. Co-chaired by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Edward Albee and New York State Assemblyman Keith Wright, the event will support a vast array of support services that help Fortune’s clients successfully re-enter their communities after serving time in prisons and jail.

This year, The Fortune Society will present two special awards: The David Rothenberg Achievement Award will go to Newark Mayor Corey A. Booker; and the Corporate Leaders for Change Award will be presented to Eric Krebs, Tony-nominated Broadway producer.

More than 300 guests will enjoy a cocktail hour, formal program and awards ceremony, as well as the screening of Bring Your ‘A’ Game, a 22-minute documentary that focuses on the relationship between high school drop-out rates, low educational expectations and the growing prison population. “A-Gamers” featured in the film include Glenn E. Martin, Director of Fortune’s David Rothenberg Center of Public Policy, Chris Rock, Mayor Booker, Spike Lee, Cornel West, Richard Parsons, and Lou Gossett Jr. The men share their stories of success and set backs, and insights into how they found their ‘A’ game.

Tickets start at $250. Numerous sponsorship opportunities are available. For information call 347-510-3683.
