The Follies of Spain September 8, 2012

For this concert, the group explores the possibilities of a haunting melody known to all musicians in past centuries. Jonathan says, "La Folia was a musical idea that worked equally well for either messing about or creating the greatest art. Our selection of six Folias spans the spectrum, from an anonymous English keyboard version to the great JS Bach himself". Also on the program are brilliant concertos for harpsichord, recorder and violin. Allow the Albany Consort to delight you with their intimacy and amaze you with their range of expression.

The musicians for this program are Jonathan Salzedo (harpsichord), Marion Rubinstein (organ/recorder), David Wilson, Clio Tilton and Ondine Young (violin/viola) and Amy Brodo (cello/viola da gamba).
