North, Fleet and Lewis Streets The north End
Boston, Massachusetts

The “Flight of the Angel” is the dramatic climax of the Sorrento Cheese Fisherman’s Feast. The Flying Angel, assisted by two side angels, all three played by young girls who are descendents of the original founders of the Feast, will literally fly across North Street to meet the Madonna and recite a prayer to her in Sicilian dialect. The Madonna is then escorted down North Street for her return to her home at the Fisherman’s Club.

The Fisherman's Feast began in Boston in 1910 and is based on a tradition that goes back to the 16th century in Sciacca, Sicily. Today's Feast is organized by the descendants of those original immigrants. The Sorrento Cheese Fisherman’s Feast will be held on 17 – 20 August 2006 in Boston’s North End.
