The flamingos have landed . . . at Matthaei! Dozens of flamingos await creative community members yearning to set their inner da Vincis free during our unique flamingo-decorating project.

Who: We want you - to register for and attend an introductory workshop on painting flamingos, check out examples of painted birds, and pick up your flamingo.

What: The Flamingo Project: a community-wide effort by creative individuals to decorate, festoon, and paint the classic American flamingo lawn ornament using weather-resistant items. Decorated flamingos will be installed this summer at Matthaei Botanical Gardens during our outdoor exhibit, “Flamingos, Gizmos, and Whirligigs - A Whimsical Outdoor Garden Display.”

When: A one-hour brainstorming and information session on Thurs., April 1, 5:30-6:30 pm. Register for the workshop and come to Matthaei to pick up your flamingo, toss a few ideas back and forth, and meet fellow flamingo aficionados. $10 entry fee per person (no discounts).
