Kumusta!
The 2009 Filipino Festival at Our Lady of Lourdes is just around the corner. In less than a month's time, the grounds of Our Lady of Lourdes church will be filled once again with Filipino sights and happy sounds.
Now on its fourth year, the Filipino Festival promises to be the best ever. We have already started to prepare scrumptious food that the Filipinos are known for and that everybody enjoys. We have lined up great entertainment for your pleasure. Popular bands like the Deep Foundation from New York, and Tim Be Told from Charlottesville, Trinity Edralin and the Nobel Band will also perform. Guests also include dancers from Virginia Beach and Fredericksburg. For the first time in Central Virginia, descendants of Igorots from Maryland, Washington DC and Norfolk will perform a Kanyaw. Wising, a photographic exhibit about our Igorot kins, is travelling all the way from Seattle, Washington and California for our enjoyment.
Of course, we have our regular mainstays, our very own young performers from the Pilipino Class and the OLL School and parish, who will perform folk dances to entertain us.
In behalf of the Festival Leadership Team, I cordially invite you to be part of this big celebration. We would love to see you at the festival! Admission is free. Please bring your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. We would also love for you to be part of the more than 600 festival volunteers who help ensure the success of this awesome showcase of the richness of our cultural heritage. Food prep days have been scheduled for Friday nights and all day Saturday at the OLL Social Hall. And of course, we would love for you to sponsor our festival. We have very reasonable family sponsorships available to friends of the Filipino Festival for one more week. Please check out our website: www.filipinofestival.org for more information or to enjoy the memories of past festivals.
Festival Dollars (food tickets valued at $1 apiece) are now on sale and through July 31st only, we offer a two-tier discount for tickets bought directly from the parish office: 30 tickets for $25 and 50 tickets for $40.
Oh, and did I mention that we will have plenty of lechon -- one of which will be prepared right there on the festival grounds. It promises to be fun! Fun! FUN.
Mark the date! On August 8, 2009, Come and Experience the Best of the Philippines right here in Richmond!
Please feel free to forward this email to anybody or to print and post this flyer anywhere.
Mabuhay and Maraming salamat.
