The Extreme Sailing Series™ at Fan Pier Splashes into Boston as part of Boston Harborfest’s 30th Anniversary June 30, 2011

The Extreme Sailing Series™ at Fan Pier headlines the 30th anniversary of Boston Harborfest, the largest Fourth of July celebration in the United States. This fast-paced, highly competitive race will be proudly hosted in Boston for the first time in North America in its five year history and runs from June 30 through July 4, 2011 at Fan Pier.

Boston’s waterfront will showcase close combat racing on high-tech, 40mph catamarans by some of the world’s best skippers. This 11-month global tour spans three continents with eleven top-class teams from eight nations consisting of Olympians, America's Cup winners, and world champions from all over the world. Racers will be handling 40 foot catamarans with 4 man crews with a 5th guest spot for a media member or lucky person from the crowd.

Other highlights at the Extreme Sailing Series™ at Fan Pier will include the Race Village, open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. which will feature Red Bull energy stations and Red Bull Air Force displays, fireworks displays, live entertainment and dancing, oyster shucking from Legal Sea Foods, additional samplings provided by Lydia Shire and Shrine, and an interactive family friendly area.
