TECC (The European Compliance Conference) is arguably Europe’s leading, international conference for Compliance Professionals. In its eleventh year, TECC 2010 will be held in Budapest, having previously visited Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Luzern, Brussels, Milan, Madrid, Copenhagen, Dublin and Vienna.

Senior speakers from the EU Commission, Regulators, Law Firms and Compliance Practitioners are regularly invited to participate in the programme. Representatives from CESR (Committee of European Securities Regulators), or its predecessor FESCO, have spoken at many conferences.

The conference programme addresses key regulatory and implementation issues in a pragmatic way with well-informed plenary discussions and hands-on workshop sessions. This format has proved very successful with Compliance Officers from over 14 different countries and TECC 2007 attracted over 200 delegates. The rich networking opportunities allow a unique chance to build contacts, compare best practices and discuss fresh approaches to new and on-going challenges. This conference offers an invaluable opportunity to talk informally to experts with a broad knowledge of each jurisdiction’s regulatory regime.

TECC is organised by Compliance Officers for Compliance Officers with the Conference Planning Committee being made up of representatives from several countries. TECC was initiated in 2000 by SHCOG (Securities Houses Compliance Officers Group), which is a well-established group of UK Compliance Officers working in the Capital Markets. SHCOG is a self-help, not-for-profit organisation with the aim of promoting education and networking within the Compliance Community. A further aim of the organisers is to offer the highest standard of programme and organisation at the lowest possible delegate cost – keeping the conference fees well below those charged by commercial conference organisers.
