"The Economics of Happiness: Building Genuine Wealth" book launch: June 26th, 2:30-4:30PM, The Old Y Centre
Despite increasing economic prosperity over the past 50 years, many conditions of well-being are in decline and rates of happiness are largely unchanged since the 1950s. Why do our measures of economic progress not reflect the values that make us happy: supportive relationships, meaningful work, a healthy environment, and spiritual well-being? Economist Mark Anielski has developed a new and practical economic model called Genuine Wealth that measures the real determinants of well-being and helps to redefine progress.
Come celebrate the launch of Mark Anielski’s provocative new book, The Economics of Happiness: Building Genuine Wealth, and recognize the pioneering sustainability efforts of Calgary organizations. Mark has been at the forefront of creating a new economics for many years. He’ll provide some brief comments, as will representatives from several local Calgary initiatives that are contributing to genuine progress in our community. Copies of The Economics of Happiness will be available for purchase and Mark will be more than happy to sign a copy for you. Light snacks will be provided. Come network, learn something, and put on a happy face.
