The Double Stops' sound derives from a multitude of extremely disparate influential elements, but perhaps most obvious are the Beatles, Velvet Underground and (Johann Sebastian) Bach. The double-stops are named after a bowing technique in which a musician produces two pitches simultaneously. They believe this to be an appropriate name not only because they utilize a violin in their music, but also because the Double Stops are extremely interested in the idea of harmony.
