Summary of the film taken from the Damaris study guide @ http://www.damaris.org/content/content.php?type=1&id=242:

"The Bourne Supremacy is the sequel to the surprise success The Bourne Identity (2002). In The Bourne Identity we met Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) when he was pulled out of the Mediterranean Sea half dead, with no memory of who he is or how he ended up there. He tried to rebuild his memory by following a series of clues. He eventually discovered that he was a US government assassin who had been programmed to kill and be unquestionably obedient to his superiors under the dismantled Treadstone project. The Bourne Supremacy picks up the story two years later. Bourne is living by the beach in Goa, Southern India, under an assumed identity. He is trying break free from his old life and start a new one with his girlfriend from the first film, Marie (Franka Potente). However, his life is not as peaceful as he would like because he is plagued by his past through recurring nightmares where different random memories come back to him.

It soon becomes apparent that someone has found Bourne and is after him. When a strange man appears who doesn’t seem to ‘fit’ in Goa, Bourne correctly assumes that he is an assassin and so starts to run. At the same time, a CIA plan to purchase classified Russian documents in order to foil a Russian criminal gang takes place in Berlin. We see one of the gang members plant Bourne’s fingerprint at the scene to set him up. As the action unfolds, we see Bourne trick the CIA again and again as he searches for information about his past life and the jobs he may have worked on. The action moves from India to Berlin, to Italy, and eventually Russia, with cuts to parallel action in Washington and New York. The film is full of car chases, and charts Bourne’s bid for survival."
