The Comedy Store, U.K's leading comedy club which celebrates thirty years this May now comes to Mumbai for the first time with The Comedy Store Tour being held. he Comedy Store Tour which is the first of its kind in India is a Curtainrasier to the actual launch of The Comedy Store in Mumbai later this year. Keeping its relevance to the Indian market, Don Ward (Cofounder of The Comedy Store) has chosen three World Class Stand Up Comedians who will perform in Mumbai. With 2009 being our 30th anniversary, this tour is a great way to further popularize a concept that is gripping India very fast. The Comedy Store Tour brings you a world class stand up comedy team that will put together a show with an Indian relevance. The Stand-Up Comedy Artists coming to Mumbai are - Sean Meo (MC), Paul Tonkinson and Ian Stone. The three artists will work in the international standard format of 1 MC + 2 Stand up Artists who will perform for a total of 2 hours. Here the MC starts the proceedings that evening and introduces both the Comics at regular intervals to do their 30 minute set each. Thus the MC takes up 30 Minutes and the other 2 Artists share the rest of the 1hr 15mins with a break of 15-20mins. The MC is always a highly accomplished comic who helps set the tone for the evening and lifts the mood as required. Sean Meo is widely acknowledged as one of the finest performers and writers on the UK comedy circuit. A former professional snooker player, he turned to a career in comedy in 1989. He can turn out intelligent material with a speed that many other comics can only gasp at! Slick, confident patter...can win over the most committed hecklers!. Paul Tonkinson is one of the funniest and busiest comedians on the comedy circuit. When he's not appearing on TV, he regularly performs to huge crowds not just in the UK but also Spain, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai. Tonkinson's irresistible banter has made him a forces favourite. He regularly entertains the troops in Afghanistan, Falklands, Barcelona, Kosovo, Malta, Egypt, Kuwait and most recently Iraq. Paul was the first comic to perform in Iraq after the war officially ended. He can whip a crowd into a laughing frenzy!!. Ranked amongst the top ten stand-ups in Britain by The Independent, Ian Stone is one of the most talented topical acts and comperes on the circuit. Edgy and provocative, with an easy-going manner and self-depreciating style, Ian is at great ease bantering with an audience. A masterful exponent of self-mocking humour . He's also a member of the Comedy Store's critically acclaimed 'Cutting Edge' team. He has performed all over the world including Comedy Festivals in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Africa, Holland, France, Ireland and Germany He has headlined gigs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the Middle East, performed on the final transatlantic crossing of The QE2, entertained troops in Kuwait and Bosnia and played various clubs in New York.
