Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2010-2011 Target FamilyFun series with its annual holiday presentation of Dance Theatre in Westchester’s "The Colonial Nutcracker" on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 2pm.

Created especially for families with children ages four to ten, "The Colonial Nutcracker" sets Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet in wintry colonial Yorktown during the Revolutionary War. Dance Theatre in Westchester’s hour-long production features a red-coated mouse army, an enchanted nutcracker prince, and compelling narration that will help to enhance young viewers’ understanding and enjoyment of this timeless story. From “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” to “Waltz of the Snowflakes,” Rose Menes’ delightful staging and choreography, coupled with colorful costumes and Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, will captivate audiences of all ages.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts’ 2010-2011 Target FamilyFun Series also includes Theatreworks USA productions of "Seussical" (Sunday, January 30, 2011at 2pm) and "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" (Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 2pm), and American Family Theater’s production of "Beauty and the Beast" (Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 2pm).
