The Chapin Sisters are three girls from New York whose musical style blends traditional folk harmonies with an Indie rock/Emo moodiness (think Crosby Stills and Nash meets Cat Power.) Their lo-fi originals are gorgeous and melancholy, while their covers of Britney Spears "Toxic" and The Cure's "Boys Don't Cry" are haunting and strangely unfamiliar -- all Chapin Sisters music can be habit forming. With musical influences like The Band, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, and of course Gram Parsons and The Flying Burrito Brothers, Los Angeles' I See Hawks in L.A. are almost single-handedly bringing about a resurgence in cosmic Cowboy country rock.
