The Camellias at Gamble Garden with Barbara Tuffli. The camellia collection at Gamble Garden began as the private passion of Miss Elizabeth Gamble and is now part of the West Coast Camellia Trail, sponsored by the American Camellia Society. As a part of our Heritage Plant Project, Gamble has acquired many of the original trees that have disappeared over the years, using old receipts carefully preserved by Miss Gamble. Join us as Barbara Tuffli talks about the history of camellias, how Miss Gamble acquired her plants in the early 20th century, and about the many more varieties we have today through hybridization. We will then walk through the gardens and visit the heritage plants, both original trees and recent historically accurate replacements. Online registration available.
