The Brig,' the play, which won the Obie Award, is a chilling portrait of military prisons. It is a sly and brutal play, based on playwright Kenneth Brown's experiences in a Japanese Marine Corps prison and uses the tedium of military drills to probe the debilitating effects of authoritarianism. Brown survived incarceration in a U.S. Marine Corps brig during the Korean War.
