THE BIG READ Cantina is an evening of Readers Theater, Discussion, and Fun geared for adults based on selections from SUN, STONE AND SHADOWS. The National Endowment for the Arts’ The Big Read is designed to revitalize the role of reading in American culture and promote the transformative power of literature. SUN, STONE AND SHADOWS: 20 Great Mexican Short Stories, was selected with U.S. readers in mind; represent a remarkable array of Mexico’s rich and vibrant literary history, and serves as a catalyst for cultural understanding between the people of Mexico and the United States.
The fun begins when the Cantina opens at 6:30 pm offering an array of food and beverage for purchase.
Free raffle tickets will be available in the lobby for free books and audio books.
The Readers Theater performance is in English and will begin at 8:00 pm, with discussion to follow.
THE BIG READ is an international literacy program sponsored by the NEA.
Shakespeare at Play’s THE BIG READ Cantina is a visiting production at the Colony Theatre.
