From Feb. 28 - March 28, 2009 GSL Art Projects presents The Big Apple meets The Big Easy, curated by artist collective Urban Individualists, an exhibition of mixed media works by New Orleans and New York based artists from New York, New Orleans, and California. Artists’ works reflect the common and uncommon experiences which connect, and at times have defined, urban life in NY and NoLa.
Artists
Helene Ruiz, Keith Duncan, Robert Daniels, Sebastian Lemaire, Judith Oppenheimer, Booker T. Williams, Gary Dunn, Gloria Holwerda-Williams, Paul Deo, Kraig Blue, Mariam Muradian, Miguelangel (Miky) Ruiz, Wahala Temi,
Kcarl Duncan, Miron Abramovici

Urban Individualists an artist collective, was born from the vision of Helene Ruiz, an artist who resides and works out of her Bronx, NY apartment. Her vision is to assemble a group of artists, both visual and performing, into a collective body. This collective represents a multicultural network of artists cohesively working as a unit. The Urban Individualists believe they can make an impact in art as a collective body, separated only by their distinct styles. A vision that demands to be seen and voices that need to be heard.

GSL’s objective is to discover and nurture contemporary cutting edge artists that live and work in New Orleans, while also promoting cultural exchanges between New Orleans artists and galleries/artists internationally. GSL is the gallery that is for artists by artists.
