With a unique brand of live fundamentalist Christianity and an extensive, interactive website (bestchurchofgod.org), the hard-hitting satire of religion has been turning heads since its inception. Hailed by the Reader as "The Best Sketch Show in Chicago" and by Time Out, the Onion, and NBC Chicago as a "must see," BCOG is the only church God goes to. Feature articles in the Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune have documented BCOG's trademark exorcisms, PowerPrayersTM, Sermons, Religious Puppet Shows, miraculous transubstantiations (delicious!), original hymns and occasional live Devil wrestling matches. The services at Victory Gardens will be the church's first foray into primetime evangelization. With this inaugural weekend "night ministry," BCOG hopes to attract the flocks of unsavory sinners who prowl Chicago's dens of inequity looking for beer, sketch comedy, and fornication. For those wayward souls, the Best Church of God will shine the Lord's light on what it truly means to be Christian.
