THE BESNARD LAKES
An intimate show from the Montreal quartet, playing in support of their incredible third album ‘The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night’, which is out now on Jagjaguwar. Like their fellow Canadians Arcade Fire, the Besnards are led by a husband and wife duo (Jace Lasek and Olga Goreas) and, while their sound may be stadium-sized (the new album was mixed on the same desk as ‘Physical Graffiti’), they eschew anthemics for something more introspective and smothered in My Bloody Valentine-style distortion.

DOUBLE U
Montpellier-based collective led by Franck Rabeyrolles. Their fifth album, ‘Pineapple Dream’, is released on Wool Recordings on May 3 and is a gorgeous, lo-fi dreampop gem – like Beach House if they had grown up listening exclusively to Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream. It also features guest vocals from Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier.

THE HIGH WIRE
London-based trio who make hushed, narcotised shoegazey pop with a pleasing country twang – like Spiritualized or Mercury Rev having a go at The Byrds’ ‘Sweetheart Of The Rodeo’. Their debut album ‘The Sleep Tape’ was recently released on Grandpa Stan.
