The Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum in Wethersfield will host an evening of art, history and inspiration during the “Beat Goes On” Spoken Word Series on June 3 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. This event is part of the eight-day Connecticut Beat Poetry Festival, which features readings by renowned poets from across the U.S. at sites throughout central Connecticut from June 1 to 8.
Featured poets on June 3 include:
John Basinger ­– Basinger is a playwright and poet who lives in Middletown. He is best known for memorizing and performing the 12 books of Paradise Lost by John Milton.
Michael Grover – Grover is co-editor of CP Journal and hosts covertpoetics.com. His work has been published throughout the literary underground. Grover resides in Port Salerno, Fla.
Colin Haskins – A Connecticut resident, Haskins is event director of Connecticut’s Spoken Word Series and is the author of The Bones and Judas Goat.
Amelia Matus ­– A Milwaukee resident, Matus has had works published in a variety of literary journals. Her upcoming books are Of Olive Trees and Gods and Trinity of Lamb, A Trilogy: Follow, Stand, and Lead.
Anita Pinatti – Pinatti is a photographer and poet who has been published in the Common Ground Review. She resides in Enfield.
Jason Tandon – Tandon’s poems have appeared in many journals. He is the author of two collections of poetry, Give Over the Heckler and Everyone Gets Hurt, and received the St. Lawrence Book Award for a first book. Both of his chapbooks have received nominations for the Massachusetts Book Award. He lives in Hadley, Mass.
