The Band of the Irish Guards, along with the pipes, drums and Highland Dancers of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, will storm the Jones Hall stage with their Houston debut on Tuesday, February 23, at 7:30 p.m. (19:30 military time). The Society for the Performing Arts proudly presents this patriotic event, bringing The Band directly from the United Kingdom to Houston’s renown theatre district for a stunning one night only performance.

The ensemble developed a unique collaboration of pieces just for its first American tour and will capture audiences with its “Hands Across the Sea” program, which features traditional tunes from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, as well as a much deserved tribute to America’s armed forces. They will perform in full military dress, armed with powerful pipes and bellowing drums, alongside the Scottish Highland Dancers.

Both groups were formed by the decree of Queen Victoria at the turn of the century and have been touring the world ever since, quickly gaining a reputation of excellence and met with roaring applause with every performance. The Royal Regiment of Scotland has a musical legacy stretching back to the days of Mozart. Now the sole Scottish band in the British forces, this ensemble epitomizes the traditional military band experience.

Tickets $20-$55 can be purchased at www.spahouston.org by phone at 713-227-4772 or at the courtyard level ticket office at Jones Hall located at 615 Louisiana St. from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Friday, and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday.
