The Bach Sinfonia: Pleasure Garden Music August 8, 2007

Members of The Bach Sinfonia Public pleasure gardens provided an eighteenth-century summer escape for Londoners seeking respite from the steamy city. Some of the greatest composers including Handel, Arne, J. C. Bach and Boyce all wrote music specifically for performance at the over 600 pleasure gardens.
