On September 16, 2006, The Artist's Market is reopening at 518 East 6th Street in the Pecan Street District. The Market (formerly the West 6th Street Artist’s Market) was founded in September, 2003 to provide a quality art market where shoppers could find a good mix of works by local artists, and to provide artists a supportive place to sell their work. In August of 2006, The Market unexpectedly lost the lease to its original location at 709 West 6th Street due to the sale of the property. The Market’s opening brings new daytime activities to the 6th St. Entertainment District that will appeal to local art lovers, families and tourists alike.
