Ann Arbor, MI, Michigan

In conjunction with their Annual Spring exhibition (which will be on display at the Library from the time of this event through mid-April), the Ann Arbor Women Artists and the Library will present a free lecture/reception with the juror for this exhibition, local arts educator Ellen Wilt. The winners of the 2009 Ann Arbor Women Artists’ Exhibit will be announced and Ms. Wilt will discuss the Ann Arbor Women Artists and their Spring Exhibition, using the art as a focal point as she leads the audience in this community discussion. Ann Arbor Women Artists, founded in 1951, is a non-profit organization of approximately 230 artists of both genders. The purpose of the AAWA is to stimulate creative expression and sharing among its members.

Ellen Wilt is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and a professor emeritus of Eastern Michigan University's art department. Ms. Wilt has been featured in numerous solo shows at various Michigan colleges, universities and galleries, and she has been a curator of multiple community projects.
