The art of musical adventures - Changing Modes performs at Pianos (NYC) on Saturday, December 16th.

No - there will be no Baby Einstein hopping around and hammering the first two measures of "Fur Elise" to death.

New York City band Changing Modes knows how to be musically adventurous. While they are listed as an "Alternative/Progressive Rock Band" - The actual music they play goes far beyond general categorization. The band's intelligent 3-minute songs fuse many musical styles, often with fast-paced key/time signature changes.

As the band name suggests, changes take place quickly in their set. The elements of funk/jazz/punk/disco/hard rock/psych pop/new wave or whatever, fly out with most unexpected twists and turns. Their new lead singer, Camille Atkinson also shifts gears fast accordingly (Ella Fitzgerald/Janis Joplin/Jim Morrison/Robert Plant). Without resorting to indulgent soundscaping and endless improvisation, Changing Modes accomplishes the art of musical adventures by strong compositions and dynamic, skillful performances.
