The Art Directors Guild Film Society And American Cinematheque Honor Production Designer Robert Boyle At The Egyptian Theatre March 29, 2009

The Art Directors Guild (ADG) Film Society and American Cinematheque (AC) will honor the legendary Production Designer Robert Boyle.

The Art Directors Guild (ADG) Film Society and American Cinematheque (AC) will honor the legendary Production Designer Robert Boyle, who celebrates his 100th birthday in October, with screenings of The Wolf Man (1941) and Gaily, Gaily (1969), two of Boyle’s most amazing examples of imaginative production design. Boyle has served as Production Designer on more than 90 theatrical motion pictures. He has been nominated for four Academy Awards® for The Shootist, Fiddler on the Roof, Gaily, Gaily and North By Northwest. In 1997, Boyle was voted a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Art Directors Guild (ADG), which was presented to him during the Guild’s First Annual ADG Awards. In 2008, Boyle was presented with an Honorary Academy Award in recognition of one of cinema's great careers in production design.

This event marks the beginning of the third year of ADG/AC monthly screening series heralding the work of Art Directors Guild legends. 2008 Academy Award® honoree Boyle and Production Designer Rick Heinrichs (the 2009 version of The Wolf Man, Pirates of the Caribbean series, and Hulk, among others) will be present between the screenings to participate in a discussion to be moderated by Production Designer John Muto.

Representing the ADG are president, Thomas A. Walsh and production designer, John Muto. Working with them are the American Cinematheque’s Gwen Deglise and Chris D.
