The April Fishes are Rupa [songwriter/guitar/vocals], Marcus Cohen [trumpet], Ed Baskerville [cello], Aaron Kierbel [contraptionist], Adrian Jost [accordion] and Eric Perney [upright bass]. They make music that mixes sounds from chansons francais, tango, jazz, American folk with tones from Indian ragas. Brass Menazeri is the Bay Area's leading Balkan brass band, purveying horns-out-front, high-energy, sometimes tricky rhythms but infectiously danceable music of Serbia, Greece and Macedonia.
