The Acoustic Vortex Presents Calaveras with The Triplicates at the Sleeping Lady May 23, 2009

Calavaras is an acoustic trio from the Bay Area playing varied, energetic, original songs. Singer-songwriters Greg Beattie and Victoria Blythe, along with instrumentalist Dave Decker, combine voices and a half dozen acoustic instruments into original songs that are both fresh and timeless--from the roots of American traditional song forms to explorations of contemporary sounds.

Their live show is a mix of Victoria´s soaring, ethereal vocals and hauntingly beautiful fiddle on pure folk ballads and sultry jazz-fusion torch songs, Greg´s energetic and insightful musical treatment of birth, death and everything in between, and Dave´s constantly creative lead-guitar commentary. Their third album, Green Girl, is a culmination of many years of writing, dreaming and performing original music in an Americana vein.

The Triplicates play an eclectic array of acoustic music featuring Marian Hubler (vocals) Tom Neylan (6-string guitar and vocals),and Bruce Victor (6- and 12-string guitar and vocals) . Their collaboration features inventive song stylings and vocal harmonies. They have been particularly active playing for Bread & Roses and have performed benefits for various non-profit organizations.
This show is part of the annual May Around the Bay public concert series for Bread & Roses. A portion of the proceeds from a selection of concerts will come to Bread & Roses.

Bread & Roses is dedicated to:
-- providing free, live, quality entertainment to people who live in institutions or are otherwise isolated from society,
-- creating a social awareness of people who are isolated from society, and
-- encouraging the development of similar organizations in other communities.

The audiences B&R serves live in hospitals, senior convalescent homes, AIDS facilities, special needs schools, shelters for the abused or homeless and other facilities serving children, teens, adults and elders.
