STEVE PORTER launches his PORTERHOUSE Vol.2 (2xCD LP) at WMC 2007. He will hold the 3rd annual hugely successful “Porterhouse” WMC party on Thursday, March 22nd at the luxurious bi-level venue The Fifth, South Beach (www.thefifth.com). The line-up this year will see Steve joined by the cream of new homegrown talent in Eli Wilkie, Bon Johnson (Live), Ryan Mishkin & PG.

Get ready for a ride with one of the most exciting new US artists to be making the rounds on the global dancefloor. Steve Porter is set to release the second volume of his mix compilation series “Porterhouse Vol. 2” to be released March 13th, 2007 on Australia’s EQ Recordings. A staggering 57 club tracks are mixed and mutated together on 2xCDs in his unrivalled genre defying, pulsating, energetic style. Porter’s mastery of programming and polished blue streak mixing style is a rollercoaster journey, shaped and re-edited into a spine-tingling hi-octane double-disc extravaganza.

“Porterhouse Vol. 2” also merges Steve Porter’s DJing and production style, featuring 14 of his own original tracks and remixes, further blurring the distinction between DJ and producer into one completely compelling musical maestro. With this album Boston’s finest NYC resident raises the bar once more with two discs of pure party exhilaration. The secret lies in Porter’s ability to cut to the chase, filleting the prime essence of each track and moving on (akin to a funky house Jeff Mills or Carl Cox, if that’s possible), which means there’s absolutely no room for boredom. It’s highly skilled, refreshing, flashy and most importantly for any discerning music lover, made to shake your groove thing

With a track selection that includes contributions by Paul Rincon, Golden Girls, Slacker, Soul Of Man, Sucker DJs, Way Out West, Plump DJs, Richard F, Max Graham, Judge Jules, and Bassbin Twins, the original Porterhouse music philosophy of "music with no boundaries" is adhered to with strong conviction. With so many mix compilations on the market today, Steve Porter is able to stand out by utilising a wide array of tracks through what he considers the four essential food groups of dance music - breaks, house, techno, and trance. Then it’s his showmanship and skilled mastery of how to engage the dancefloor that sets Steve apart. What is evident throughout is his love of musical, melodic sounds, as piano lines, synths and guitars flow in and out throughout funked-up house beats, breaks interludes, and techno twists. Quite simply, this isn’t minimal this is maximal, and unashamedly so!

It’s largely a family affair in terms of much of the artist selection too – alongside Porter’s own originals and remixes, there are tracks from long-term collaborators and rising future talent like Emjae, Chris Micali, Island 9, Aaryn Blain, Matt Rowan, and Roger Lee. All tried and trusted hands in the ‘fantasy funk’ experience emanating from Steve’s homegrown Boston music scene. With the quality on display here “Porterhouse” continues to provide an essential platform for some of the freshest new talent to emerge from the USA.

The astonishing level of dancefloor energy that Steve Porter transmits through this mix is such that you’ll be hitting the repeat button as soon as it finishes. Make-no-mistake, Porterhouse is party house of the highest order.
