WHAT:The Third Louis Gregory Symposium on Race Unity, featuring Keynote Speaker and Author, Dr. Joy DeGruy, and a panel of diverse and insightful guests to discuss unity in our community. The three Austin area college students, chosen as finalists in our essay competition, will presenttheir essays and receive their 1st, 2ndand 3rdplace scholarships.The event is free of charge.

Dr. Joy Degruy (formerly Leary) is a national author and educator with more than 20 years of experience in social work. Her book Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome: Americas Enduring Legacy of Injury and Healingaddresses the residual impact of trauma on African descendants in the Americas.
